“IVI Getting Started Guide” Now Available
Niwot, Colorado – The IVI Foundation announces the new IVI Getting Started Guide free of charge on its website at http://www.ivifoundation.org. Interchangeable Virtual Instrument (IVI) drivers have long been recognized for their power and performance enabling instrument interchangeability and lowering the cost of developing and maintaining test systems. What has not always been clear is that IVI drivers can also be easy to use. Regardless of your chosen Application Development Environment (ADE), you can use the drivers to develop, set up and maintain test systems efficiently.
“There is an easy path to working with IVI drivers, and the IVI Getting Started Guide provides a step-by-step guide to walk the user through the process.” said Joe Mueller, President of the IVI Foundation.
Each example chapter in the IVI Getting Started Guide shows you how to use an IVI driver to write and run a program that performs a simple measurement on a simulated instrument and returns the result. The examples demonstrate common steps using IVI drivers in the most popular ADEs for programming instruments. These steps include:
• Initializing the instrument
• Configuring the instrument
• Accessing an instrument property
• Taking a reading
• Closing the instrument
• Checking the driver for any errors.
• Displaying the reading.
Each chapter provides a short tutorial in a particular ADE using a simple step-by-step approach. Most users will need to reference only one or two of the chapters to be up-and-running using IVI drivers.
